trapped

The only reason I am posting smack dab in the middle of the day is because I am TRAPPED.

For the past hour+ a guy has been in the kitchen working to repair the dishwasher. (Call me intuitive, but am thinking the reason this is taking a bit longer than it should is due to his need to go out and have a cigarette every 11 minutes . . . )

And so, as I have finished all I can do sitting here and need to be down at the office– but I can’t go to the office until he has the eighteen hundred THOUSAND pieces all over my kitchen floor (and a drenching of water on my rug sorted– you know, accidents happen) back into his tool kit or into the dishwasher or wherever they go . .

In happier news (not that getting my dishwasher* fixed isn’t cause for celebration, ahem), we seem to be on a string of early mornings and oh man, does it EVER rock my world.

Rock. My. World.

I am thinking there is something going on here— the giant changes in my food (no carbs, no sugars) seems to have crazy good effect on my well-being and energy.

Whatever it is– I am gonna ride this wave as long as I can.

For the third year in a row, this third week of November,  I park my car in the back of the apartment where I live and gaze about loving on the beauty.

This is decidedly odd.   If you were to see the space behind my apartment, you might most generously call it a bit “ghetto” as there are abandoned BBQ grills in the grass, sheets of weathered plywood leaning about haphazardly and a one-wheeled wheelbarrow on its head, gently rusting through the seasons.

And yet, at this time, for the third year in a row there is a plant that absolutely dazzles me.

I love it so much and want so much to capture its color, its light and once again, it has thwarted me.

It defies my lens.

I share it, regardless.

Sounds like the guy is done!  I’m outta here— see you on the flip side.

bisous, e

*in the event, inquiring minds want to know— I wash my dishes by hand 99% of the time — but when I have people over, dinner parties, etc– I like to use the machine — seeing as it is just sitting there wanting to fulfill its life calling . ..

. . . a one-wheeled wheelbarrow on its head gently rusting through the seasons is freakin beautiful ! In fact, that could possibly be a description of myself. xoxo

This is completely off topic, but I'm dying to ask you some SIBO-related questions! I'm in the process of narrowing down my particular health issues, and I'm a little terrified that will be the diagnosis in the end…

I do the same thing. I have a dishwasher at the cottage that I only use when there are four or more of us around the table, because I am one of those weirdos who actually enjoy washing dishes. The rest of the time, the thing is used as an extra cupboard.

me too– I'll probably have those old dishwasher hands one day– but I find washing dishes oddly meditative . . . probably cause I have a window over the sink — if I didn't, don't know that I would feel the same way . .. oxox, e

If memory serves me that's a Barberry shrub, sharp pointing prickly needles on the stem and small flat leave. Depending on the variety they can display fall color from deep purple to the orange you photographed. They are a striking display in the fall garden.

My hands love doing tasks like dishwashing, it's my zen work, just for the reason you stated, it's so meditative.

I have been “doing” dishes (if you call watching my husband actually wash the dishes…) as well. Waiting for the part so I can fix the actual dishwasher…the repair guy taught me how! I ALWAYS have FIVE people around my table, so…yeah.

That bush/plant is breath-taking. I can't imagine what it is like in real life!

I know how it is when the shot doesn't exactly capture what your eye is seeing, but this is a beautiful shot, as is that top beach shot. Look at the color and depth. They are both lovely and evocative. You are one lucky gal. I also want you to know that I have gotten a lot out of your daily writings. They have really helped me through kind of a rough patch and maybe onto another track. Thank you. xo KD from SoCal

Your photos are so full of life and beauty; what an eye you have! I used to always handwash dishes…I actually LIKE handwashing dishes, but with four people in the house…I don't think I could survive it now!
