This morning at the park I caught up with Cat, a woman I haven’t seen in a while.
We had first reconnected* at this very same spot soon after I moved to Providence. (*Reconnected because she was a student of mine when I taught at boarding school!?!)
Anyway. This morning. When I saw Cat drive up, we had just finished our stroll around the park. Daisy had already hopped into the back, and I was pulling down the hatch.
“Come walk with me,” she called out. And so we did. The weird thing is, she is now 39. The age difference that seemed so vast when I was her high school teacher has melted away.
And? I learned today that during her acupuncture studies she got a master’s in herbal healing!! <–!!
Exactly the direction of study I want to go for the second half of my life.* She even turned me on to a place right here in Providence where I can start weekly classes.
I tell ya’. Miracles every day people.
You just gotta believe.
ALSO– CROILA!!!! I have seen your comment in the last post and YES! I will be so happy to ramble on my favorite subject and perhaps even grab a couple of old ones and pull passages out to share?
Stay tuned.
bisous, e
*possibly I haven’t shared this with you? oops, my bad. yes — that is where I am headed. back into the garden, people!! xo
Whoa! Way to slip that in, you fiery fox, you!
I've always had a hobby interest in herbal healing and can't wait to hear about your experience as you delve down that path for the next part of your life (not second half—sounds too finite)!
fiery fox! except today it is gray and raining steadily, this fox definitely is keeping under wraps . . I will be sure to share as it is my total interest and can't imagine it won't be all I will want to talk about once I dig in. love knowing it interests you, too! xo
Whatever you do, wherever you go, I suspect you will make the absolute MOST of it and continue to shine like the star you are 🙂
I was going to comment yesterday because your musings just sang to my soul, and got sidetracked. Today, I must comment because I just love that you are listening to your heart, and moving with it despite the fear. You inspire me!
Oooohhh thank you, can't wait to read about the journalling! Looking forward to it 🙂
Very intetesting, the Cat story. And OF COURSE she wrote to you telling you how positively you affected her. Not one single reader of yours will be surprised by that. You're just that type of person. *beams*
Oh, how I love that CAT story. Love. You are so right about the fumbling around in the dark. Today I had a few sparks, which is good, but you never know which sparks catch fire. Unless you are lucky enough to have someone tell you. I am not surprised either. You ARE a fire-starter. xoxxo
Farmacy? I have them bookmarked for one of my someday maybes. >sigh< In the meantime I play & LOVE following some of the new paths you are taking --

Oh, and the beautiful, beautiful Christmas boxes you sent me all those years ago? I still have them. I store Christmas decorations in then and every year I look at them and smile so much, thinking of when they arrived… Oooh, stop it, I'm welling up now..!

Or, The Pointer Sisters…
I am so excited about your new endeavor, by the way. I don't know much about herbal healing, so I get to learn new stuff as you share. WIN! A whole new you to become!
So excited to hear you're getting into herbal healing – did you happen to pick up a copy of either of Holly's books during the fall session? I have her essential herbal and I'm really loving working out of it, so much so that I may try the A-Z volume next.
Looking forward to seeing your posts as you dig into it so we can compare notes! 😉
oh yes yes!! I got Holly's big book this time last year— she is SO awesome– you know she offers classes out on MV, yes?
I do! I've been eyeballing them. I'd love to take the 8 weeks to work with her, but it's a long time away from home, and my husband and I are going through so many changes in our relationship right now that it's not a great time to take it. Hopefully some year, though – I loved learning from Holly, and it's hard to wildcraft in the city. Would be fun to see what I could put up in a summer on the vineyard.
So would you recommend the big book? I can't decide between that and a different book from a different herbalist to compare approaches.
Haha, replied to myself instead of you. Thankfully you're the blog owner and will see it regardless!
