Mystic Vixen

new habits can die hard, too

Happy first day of the month!  I love the beginning of a new day, a new month!  It is true.

Also true?  —  am a creature of habit, (as if you didn’t know this). It will take a bit for me to stop posting daily now that I have just fired up the habit to do that very thing.

Gotta run to the office now, but wanted to show you the EMPTY bookshelf (and cleaned– damn, who knew bookcases could be so dusty? Did you know this?)

All the old journals are gone gone gone.

Feels amazing.

Leaving it open with a bit of intention for transformation — doing some new moon magic on it tomorrow and then– at some point when the mail man delivers THIS to me– I shall be painting it mustard seed yellow.

How I love the power of the mustard seed.
How this third chakra color of strength and self-esteem is such a key force for me right now.

Oh, and yes, yoga was had!

December, you will be mine.

xo, e

Sooooo very happy your new habit is dying hard, as I love to read a little post from you each day. And you have inspired me to take my yoga practice back to the mat every day also. I practice my yoga in my daily life, though not necessarily on the mat. My body and mind has missed it. But I shall now make the time each day to take it to the mat. There are no yoga studios near me in the rural area I live in, but I go on line to Yogaglo and choose a class on there. Do you go to a class for all of your yoga or have your own practice that you do at home?

One more thing,,,,Your journals, do you have multiple journals you write in at one time, or do you put all your thoughts in one journal. I know you showed the Gratitude Journal you purchased for 2014, but there is not enough room in there for random journaling is there?

Hope you Sunday is filled with peace and love and lots of doggie kisses.

I, for one, hope that you can NOT kill the habit. I am so happy you showed up today! Oh, the love of a blank and empty bookcase. This doesn't ever happen in my house. We buy a new bookcase because we are sick of tripping over the books. It is filled before it is purchased. (We need about three right now.) But, making space for growth is so wonderful. That feels different than “cleaning out”. It feels like waiting for magic. Sometimes all it takes is a change in mindset to move forward. I will be thinking more about this in the weeks ahead. There is nothing to be done right now than to catch up with what needs to be done, but after Christmas? Hmmmm. Yay for the Yoga! xoxo

Lalala, I can't hear you about the dusty bookcases!! AM Very Glad Indeed that you may continue posting as long as the habit lasts! I am taking a break today, but I will NOT be a slacker. It's not a New Year resolution, it's a New Life one! 😀

Yes, I know all about dusty bookcases, but choose to ignore the dust. I seriously need to purge old belongings, but am resisting. There's an emotional attachment there that I find very difficult to cut. However, my husband has no trouble getting rid of my stuff. I'm not sure whether I should be mad, or glad.

Yoga happened today, but until I get into the swing of things and *settle* into yoga every day, I think it will be speed yoga: 30 secs for grounding/centering, hip openers, 2 sun salutations, 1 set of Tree, 1 set of twists, 30 sec sivasana. 🙂 But I *am* on the mat.

I have been following your blog since the beginning of November. Such great wisdom and realism! It feels like a special daily letter from a friend. I am just starting my own spiritual journey in earnest ( have had many stops and starts over many years but now just feels like the right and final time to pull things together) and reading your stories has been so helpful. Hopefully you will continue somewhat regularly ( no pressure intended) writing entries as they have become an important resource to me. Thanks so much for the help! Didn,t mean to go into such a story but wanted you to know how much I admire you.

Ooohh I'd love to try the milk paint, but not sure I'd be able to let go enough to let it do it's thing without knowing how it would come out. For now, I'm a devotee of Annie Sloane. One day perhaps…
