Mystic Vixen

let the healing begin!

November 25, 2013 33 Comments

So happy together!

There’s a rumor that people begin to resemble their dogs after a certain amount of time.

For the record, my natural hair is dark brown* . . . and yet in the untouched photo above it clearly looks like I am morphing into some colorway between yellow lab and golden retriever.

ahem

I have exactly four minutes to post here as it is ‘pedal to the metal’ time in Squamlandia.  (Big launch next week and I am full out between now and then so, though I like to think I will have at least a few more thoughtful posts in me between now and the 30th . . . today will not be one of those).

Updates:

1.  bringing Oliver back into the fold has been so healing for ALL.

Healing for Daisy who keeps giving me these big, sweet gazes that say one thing:  thank you.  Healing for Oliver who has been in exile for three years . .  no offense to Dave who did his best by him for sure, but Dave has a full-time job with a commute (and a social life) and Ollie spent some very long and lonely days lo these many years.  And oh hey, for anyone just joining the party now who wants to sit in judgement on me for having to make the decision to leave him behind because I could not manage three dogs in the city — you are welcome to take a giant bite out of my sweet ass.  Bon appetit!

2.  this little challenge I set for myself to post each day of November has gotten the wheels turning.  it is such a simple thing, it turns out, to fulfill a single priority — and so, for December, I am going to focus on doing yoga every single day of the month . . . am SUPER excited about this and feel so grateful that this daily blogging practice has given me this idea and plan.

3.  Thanksgiving is my most favorite holiday of the year.  I love love love it and am swirling around like one of those paper cones in a cotton candy maker getting wrapped deeper and deeper in gratitude as I count my blessings.

Gratitude is the infinite spiral.

If you feel grateful for the beautiful vegetables you got at the farmer’s market, it’s a natural progression to say thanks for the people who create the market, all the work to make it happen, the beautiful mill building that was built that houses it (the heat, the lights, the electricity . . .) the farmers who grow the food (the vehicles that bring the food from the farms, the earth, the rain, the sun . .  the tools they use to farm the land . . .).

ONE gratitude thought and it branches out endlessly.

You just got a glimpse into the wild web that is my mind.  you’re welcome . . .

And, that is four minutes my friends.  ding!

Talk to you tomorrow–

bisous, e

*suffice to say the woman in the photo above does not have anything remotely resembling “natural” hair color

Bon soir, dusho moya. I can't tell you how happy it makes me to know how healing this new arrangement has been for you all. Love it. I'm inspired by the combo of quitting smoking and taking on a new habit for 30 days. I wonder if I could incorporate a little somethin-somethin for myself in December. I'll have to think about it… That photo is heart-melting. xo

Oh dear…yoga every day in December? It's easier to slam out a blog post every day than to do yoga every day. Does doing sivasana every day count? While in bed?

I'm in…because I feel like I really need to jump start my yoga practice. Sigh…

Whoever said “Just showing up is huge for me” didn't know what the day was going to be like…the very next day. So. Oh Well.
Whoever said that Daisy would find a companion with a questionable past that would be perfect…was spot on. Who knew it would be FAMILY! I am so happy for Ollie & Daisy and YOU. xo

You're so funny. Yay for happy doggies! Also, completely unrelated to anything else, but I love that rug. I'm feeling the pull for an everyday yoga practice too. I gotta remember not to talk to anyone about it because every time I start & then mention it, poof! I stop practising.

bonjour! isn't the POWER of intention amazing– I think 30 days is a wild thing— how “fast” something can come into being— I've read that it's actually only 21 days to release an old attitude/belief and create a new habit– always hard those first 10 days for sure, but if you hold to it— the momentum picks up– REMIND me of that when December hits and I am struggling to get on the mat!! ha ha xoox, e

I know, right? how utterly obvious and yet, it never occurred to me and then BOOM, perfect solution for ALL. so much healing– I was rushing so fast above I didn't get to say the healing for ME has been so big. xoxo, e

Yes, let the healing begin. You made a reference earlier this month to Byron Katie. I had never heard of her. Now I can't stop with her! Thank you so much, Elizabeth. I'm so filled with gratitude, I can't find words. xo

Will do – and am actively JOURNALING!!! (all caps, sorry, but excited!) journaling my way to figuring out what I might pick up this December. I'm thinking spin classes? The last couple of weeks have been a test in discipline & endurance so I want something I would normally say no to. Love love love to you and Happy Thanksgiving. xoxoxo
